Registration for Fall 2025 Courses

The Fall 2025 course lineup will be released to Seniors’ University Group members via email the week of August 4, 2025. Online and in-person registration will begin the week of September 1, 2025.

The Education Committee is working hard to line up instructors and events that will please all interests.

The 2024-2025 Seniors’ University Group Annual General Meeting will take place as follows:

SUG is required by law to hold an AGM each year. For the AGM to proceed there must be sufficient members present to ensure a quorum. So, we urge all SUG members who are able to attend the AGM to do so. By giving a few hours of your time you will be discharging an important governance responsibility. Don’t leave this duty to someone else. Please support your SUG Board volunteers.

Registration: Registration on Amilia SmartRec is respectfully requested. Please click here to register. You must be a member to register on Amilia SmartRec. Online registration will close at end of day June 5, 2025. This gives planners a chance to order food, beverages, and set the room configuration for maximum accessibility.

Online, In-class & Hybrid Learning

Zoom classes

Zoom links are sent to students via email after registration, before the start date of the class.

In-person classes

In-person classes are held at the College Avenue building, 2155 College Avenue, Regina, SK

Hybrid classes

Hybrid classes are a combination of Zoom and in-person classes. They allow members the choice of staying home during inclement weather or illness.

The “hybrid” choice is made at the time of registration. Not all classes are offered as hybrid.

Parking

Paid parking for in-person classes is available south of the College Building in Lot 20. Pay kiosks can be found in the parking lot and inside the building, adjacent to the north atrium entrance. You need your license plate number and a credit card to pay at the kiosks. The indoor kiosk also accepts change. Click here for a parking map. There is free on street parking along College Avenue. The time-limit is 2 hours.

The Seniors’ University Group is excited to tell you about our new

SUG Coffee Club

The SUG Coffee Club will offer different activities throughout the year such as games & trivia, day tours, book talks, cards and more, plus we’ll include time for coffee and chatting.

For our first activity, we are proud to offer a guided tour at the MacKenzie Art Gallery on the Multiple Lives of Paintings: European Painting 1500-1800.

Tuesday, March 26, 2024

1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Fee: $5.00 for members, at the door.

(You must be a SUG member to register.)

Be sure to include the name and phone number of all individuals you are registering. Some walking required, but ramps, elevators and chairs are available.

Note: We will meet in the lobby of the gallery fifteen minutes prior to the start of the tour. The $5.00 fee will be collected at the door.

Location: The MacKenzie Art Gallery, 3475 Albert St., Regina.

After The Tour: Those wishing can gather at the Craft Services Café, MacKenzie Art Gallery, for purchased refreshments.

Registration for Winter 2024 Courses

Registration for Seniors’ University Group Winter 2024 classes was conducted manually from January 8th to 10th and online from January 8th to 12th. We had an amazing turnout! Our SUG membership has also blossomed to over 450 members. Thank you, members, for your unwavering support.

The wide variety of courses on offer this session included physical fitness, gardening, language training, brain health, gardening, history, wine education, and that’s just to name a few! Interest in classes was high, with over 250 members enrolling. Some chose 4, 5, and 6 courses!

The Winter session runs from January 22 to April 4. We expect to be posting a Spring session course list before long. The Education Committee is working hard to line up instructors that will please all interests.

Memorandum of Understanding

GREAT NEWS!

The Seniors’ University Group finalized and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Regina on January 11, 2024. This MOU allows SUG free use of rooms at the College Avenue Campus for our classes. The agreement spans the next five years, with provision for renewal. This agreement is an admirable example of how partnerships can work to the advantage of all parties. Thank you to all the wonderful people at the U of R who worked with the Board to arrive at this critical moment in SUG’s re-creation.
